Indeed, this is a very hard disease to deal with. Especially for the people who are not experiencing the disorder. I can't imagine how difficult it is to be unable to console a child who is seeing things and hearing voices. I guess they have never known what it is to be normal. I too have the seen the Jani story in TLC and in one of my earlier posts I posted a link to one of the documentaries. That family has two siblings who have schizophrenia. The oldest is being treated for it and the younger one is labeled with Autism but the parent states that he is already showing the same symptoms that Jani had at an earlier age. It is so much more sad when it is a child because they have not lived. Older people who suffer from it have lived a life already but children. There are just so many questions about this disease. It must be very frustrating to not have answers. We are now having to look for symptoms in children, when before that was not happening. Good luck to all the families of those suffering from this. May they get the strength and patience needed to love and care for their loved one. http://health.discovery.com#mkcpgn=yfit1

I was looking forward to opening the link you posted. Unfortunately, I was not able to open it. Was it about Jani, or another child with schizophrenia? Even though I am familiar with Jani and her story I had no idea that her brother might be diagnosed with schizophrenia as well. I cannot imagine how tough will that be on their parents. In this example, this is when we go back to genes and see that there is a relationship between genes and schizophrenia. It is so strange that children are now being one of the main targets when dealing with disorders. It is far more common today to diagnose a child at a very young age. I can't believe it at times. I do not have any kids, so I am not sure which behaviors seem to be "uncommon and different". I guess when you become a parent you immediately try to satisfy your child's needs and when you see that nothing that you do is helping, then the questions might arise.
ReplyDeleteI agree that there is a relationship between genes and schizophrenia. the story about these two little children show it. It must be extremely heartbreaking for the parents to have to deal with this disease, and seeing how it negatively affects the lives of their children. My heart goes out to that family. I'm hoping they can live as normally as they possibly can.
